I did not swatch

Wild duck socks, started 23 Feb 05
Pattern: Knitty Crusoe Socks

I did not swatch. I couldn't wait any longer to use the fabulous Koigu that Jackie sent me. I cast off and knit merrily away on Knitty's Crusoe socks, admired the beautiful definition the yarn had, admired it's glorious squeezability, marvelled at the beautiful colours. It looked a little skinnier that other socks I have knit. 'But', I thought, 'the stitch seems quite stretchy I'm sure it will be fine.'

I had a client meeting, and I knit all the way there on the train, and all the way back. By the time I got home, I was ready to shape the toe. I decided to try it on. I had to rip back the entire thing.

I'm old enough to know better.

OH - how awful for you! The only consolation is that you get to kit with the Koigu all over again! ;o)

you're right. Much as it hurt to tear it out, it's no real chore to knit it again.

Great story - nona appologizes, but she had a good laugh over your plight! All us knitters can identify with the swatch skipping dangers, something we all periodically do and often regret. nona believes there are only 2 rules in knitting: 1. Don't panic and 2. Gauge is critical to successful results.
