Tweed stitch belt

cricket04.jpg

A couple of you asked me to spill the beans on the belt I've been working on. So here it is:

Rowan Handknit Cotton, two balls, contrasting colours
3.75mm needles
Cast on 13 sts
Row 1: *K1, slip 1 holding yarn to front (RS) of work, rep from * to last st, K1
Row 2: P2, *slip 1 holding yarn to back (RS) of work, P1, rep from * to last st, K1

Rep these rows. At the same time, change colour every four rows. Keep going until belt is as long as you want, or you run out of yarn. Tie nonchalantly.

Thank you all for your comments. I apologise that I owe you emails, and haven't been visiting recently. Have been fighting The Black Dog somewhat, but rallying now.

I'm not sure what the Black dog is, but I hope you are well. That is about the same pattern pretty much that I used. I just love yours in the Rowan Handknit DK cotton, probably much easier on the hands than this cording I'm using. Take care.

Thinking of you! And sending my love.

Thanks for the pattern, Anna. I dug the stitch pattern out, but it was helpful to have tips on when to change colour. I have a good friend who loves belts and I have an alarming amount of cotton odds and ends in my stash, so you have contributed to a happy pairing!

I hope we get lots more sunshine to chase the black dog away.

Ugh...black dog...not good...hopefully some good weather and sunshine will help. A charming pink and green belt certainly can't hurt. I'm glad you posted how often you were switching color - I was wondering about that. Hope you feel better...

Oh, the Dog, the Dog. I have a feeling he might be visiting on this side of the pond soon, so hopefully he wil be off your chest entirely.

But I agree with Vicki--a pink and green belt certainly can't hurt.

Thanks for the belt pattern. It's the perfect portable, keep in your purse kind of project -- I'm buying my yarn today. Hmm, what colors shall I choose?

That dog gets around, he's been here lately too. Hang in there.

Hello Anna, I new you a long time ago for a very short while. I am sorry to hear you have suffered the ‘Black dog’. Glad to see you have a handsome husband to support you. Good luck with your knitting, all very appropriate with the current worries over climate change!

Anna,

Is this your very own basketweave stitch? May I use it for handbag I'm designing?

Thanks for your consideration!

I like it. "The black dog" that IS what it's like isn't it? I love dogs, I always have one but I can totally identify with the analogy. What do you do when he comes around? I find some days that it is so hard to keep fighting what seems like "all the time". I have good days when I feel as if I KNOW that I will never feel like that again and then there are those "black dog" days. Sigh. Thanks for writing about it and making me feel as though it's OK and that there isn't something about me that makes me not belong.
