Roll call
Here are some finished things, to boost myself before dealing with the increasing number of started projects that are leering at me, menacingly. Have I got what Jodi's got? I commented to her post that I instill superpowers in my knits as I work on them: each one, when I wear it, I believe will make me funny at last, popular, successful, (etc etc ad infinitum). The funny thing is, sometimes they still maintain a shadow of their powers once they're finished; when they work out, and look just like I hoped they would. In other words, they help me to pretend.
Cricket belt, started 26 May 05 finished 20 June 05
Pattern: My own

I don't know why there's a white bit at the end. I had a little bit of white cotton. I think it looks 'right'. Call it punctuation. This belt is over several feet long - I dont know how long but taller than me with my arms right up in the sky - but only 13 stitches wide. It can also be worn as an extremely thin scarf, a la Mick Jagger.

Finished yesterday, worn today with pinstripe shorts, red sandals and a boy blue blouse to a client meeting today. I was nervous, but did fine.
edit to add: I'm reminded... the belt has real superpowers, due to it's judo-belt ancestry
Clapothree, started 5 June 05 finished 18 June 05
Pattern: Do we know it by heart yet?

In RY Cashsoft DK. And it is soft, soft and coccooning. I thought this might be just the thing for Florence, who is in the enviable position of having a blog dedicated just to her - imagine the luxury! But Mr Raitte assures me she is a 'winter' palette person. Florence? What would be your favourite colour? As my next closest female relative who has yet to receive a Fashionable Life handknit, you have one coming.
Finally, you asked for them, here she is and not without snap and crackle,
Chemistry shrug, started 31 May 05 finished 5 June 05

Oooh. I love all three! I finished Glampyre's OSO recently, but I bound off too tightly and it's like a back brace on me. Yours is beautiful- is that an i-cord *something* on it?

Wow! You've been busy... I love all your three projects. And the colour combination for the Glampyre top worked really well.

wow, all the FOs looked gorgeous! love the one skein wonder the most!

All three are wonderful, but especially Clapotis! I've not knitted one yet (am I the only person who hasn't?) but it's on my list now! Which size shoulder shrug did you knit? I've been trying to guess a size for a gift, but it looks too tiny!

Your clap is the most gorgeous one I have seen. I have stayed far away from this overknit item...but oh my...I see it differently now. I must make one!
Posted by: Carolyn at June 21, 2005 11:00 PM
Yes, exactly! My knits, when they come off the needles looking the way I imagined they would, help me pretend too.
And I'm sure my waist is going to look smaller as soon as I've knitted your gorgeous belt. . .

They all look great. Clapothree is in such a lovely muted soft green. I agree with you about how what we wear can make us feel carefree, or professional, etc.

You are my Knitting Super Hero. :) I plan to start knitting a Clapotis soon, just need to clear the queue. I loved the one you made for your sis in Blue (my fave color).
Those one skein wonders knit up pretty fast, my niece and daughter love them.

I am so jealous...all those finished objects are lovely...The clapotis is my favorite...how many skeins of the cashsoft did it take? Your knitting is amazing!

gorgeous, all gorgeous!

OH dear me--who needs other super powers when you have a snuggly wrap, a galmorous shrug, and a Mick Jagger scarf/belt? You are a knitting superhero indeed.

Lovely knits, as always! Nice and refreshing to see a little detail that is there just because you thought it "looked right". And it does! The stitch in your belt is very nice- nearly woven looking. Do you slip your edge stitches or just knit along?

I love the single colour Clapothree - first time I've seen one knitted like that and it works wonderfully. How many balls did you use? I was looking (read: feeling) the Cashsoft DK yesterday in John Lewis - lovely colours and very touchable.

I love all your FOs!! Love the colour of your belt, love the yarn of your Clapotis and love your look in the OSW. Anyway, you finish Clapotis in 13 days??!! I dare not knit it because I think it'll take me months.
Posted by: yuvi at June 22, 2005 11:00 AM
How glamorous can one girl look in a day!! Stunning as always.
Posted by: jacqueline at June 22, 2005 11:22 AM
I can only dream of being able to unveil 3 finished objects in one day! love your work (and your punctuation).

Love it all!

Clapothree in Cashsoft is lovely - it looks incredibly cozy. I'm glad to see modeled pics of the Chemistry shrug too - it's a perfect fit. And, of course, the belt is fabulous as expected. Wearing it as a thin scarf is a great idea too - hmmm...I just got tickets for The Stones concert coming up in Sept. - perhaps I should knit myself a skinny concert scarf a la Mick.

I love Clapotis in a solid colourway - it adds a whole new dimension to the pattern. The shrug looks great - I must buy that pattern.

Love all the finished object -- you are just oozing with superpowers! What an enpowering way to think about knitting, I think you're on the something here.

I feel that I have been outed! Or perhaps like a peeping Tom who has been discovered. I have been enjoying keeping up with your wonderous projects and the supportive comments from your readers. The clapotis is beautiful in each colour you've shown. To think that I might one day own one is exciting. Mr Raitte is correct that I am a winter person and like strong colours and black and white. My favorite is likely black - I wear it winter and summer. Is that too boring?
I do enjoy your blog.

gorgeous knits and amazing pics! great work!
Posted by: froggy at June 24, 2005 05:31 AM
now I know what I will make my clapotis out of... I went back and forth on solid v. variegated and now the deal is settled for me.
now to pick which of the RYC (Cash Soft or Cash Cotton) and to pick a colour! and then figure out how much will be needed, buy and start knitting.
One round of indecisiveness off and out two more to face down :)
