Advent
I’ve been toiling away to meet a deadline, which is not yet met but will be. Nothing like leaving things to the last minute to sharpen the wits. And having sworn I wouldn’t be knitting for Christmas, somehow now I am. Let me show you some…
---
Ene’s scarf, started 8 Oct 05 finished 9 Dec 05
Pattern: from Scarf Style, ed. Pam Allen
Yarn: Laceweight handpainted from Marta’s Yarns, a gift from Jacqueline

It’s beautiful.
---
Shedir, started 3 Dec 05 finished 4 Dec 05
Pattern: by Jenna from Knitty
Yarn: One ball and about 3 yards of Rowan Calmer in Coffeebean, left over from my NBaT.

This is a wonderful knit, the design is expert and really makes the most of one’s abilities. Looks extremely impressive, and lovingly hugs the head.
---
Rose pin
Pattern: from elements in Knitted Embellishments by Nicky Epstein
Yarn: Leftovers

Many more of these to be made before December 25th.
---
Corrugated, started 10 Dec 05 finished 10 Dec 05
Pattern: from Loop-d-loop by Teva Durham
Yarn: Two balls RYC Cashsoft DK, used double. Just over half the two balls used. I’ll make another using a strand of Cashsoft and more leftover Calmer.

A couple of hours’ work, ridiculously flattering for what it is. The next one is for me.

Between all these and the deadline, I’m feeling rather pressed. Of course in the middle of this I came across Cara’s Jaywalkers, and then this, distractingly, happened:

Followed by this:

And then this:

Roar. Or, if you prefer, purrrr. Roll on January.

All of it is breathtaking! Ene's Shawl is beyond beautiful. I've been thinking about making this and you might have convinced me. The yarn is magnificent!
The jaywalkers - well - beyond nice! What did you do to the tops - did you change things? Or is that just the photograph. I'd love to know. DEFINITELY in the next friday update.
What a lovely post! Thank you for sharing!

All the showcased projects are delightful! I'm particularly captivated by Shedir, it's beautiful. I'd love to feature your Jaywalkers in the gallery once the pair is completed, the first is very cute!

All lovely projects; a great way to spend Advent. How can I not like the corrugated rib hat - in quite a similar colour to mine?! I love Shedir as well, must take another look at that pattern. Did you redo the Jaywalkers or did the width turn out OK?

I'm so glad you got to finish your restorative lace! I hope it did the trick. All the fo's look great. I don't remember seeing that hat from knitty before, but yours has peaked my interest. Hope you make your deadlines (if anything, there's always a little bit more lace that can do the trick)

It's all beautiful. I'm thinking there may be a pair of Jaywalkers in my future, too, but not (NOT!) until I've gotten my current pair of socks finished. I mean, really, they've only been sitting on the needles since July . . .

You finished the hat already? That was a fast knit, it looks really good. I must try that in the New Year when all the rush is over.. You'll be glad to know that I'm making good progress with the project I started on Saturday, I'll email you about that later..

My, but you've been busy! :-)
I love your Jaywalker sock. What a great shade of Koigu that is! (The Ene's Scarf isn't shabby either, but those golden browns in the Koigu really speak to me.)

Silence from you for a while means a big treat for our eyes later... Congratulations on all those beautiful works of yours. Ene's scarf is splendid in this fabulous yarn and I love this rose pin.

Ene's scarf is one of my faves. Yours looks divine. It looks bigger than in the book, I guess you didn't double up the yarn.
Posted by: erin at December 15, 2005 11:53 PM
Everything looks really nice, I'm especially fond of Shedir, and the Ene's scarf looks amazing in that colourway.
