21st Jan

Thank you so much, everyone, for your kind, comforting words. Mum reads here and I know she will be touched too. Harvey did indeed shuffle off his mortal coil this afternoon (helped, in the end, by the vet), and is already buried in her garden with a new rose bush on top. He was a wonderful pet, gave so much happiness, and it is only right we shed a few tears for him. Also right that we dry our eyes and smile because he lived the best possible life, and had a quiet, calm end.

The sun came out, and I spent the afternoon looking at this. I love a good edge... will knit and rip endlessly, with increasing frustration, until arriving at last at the solution. It's always worth it - the difference between something to wear and something to cherish is in the details.

Mightn't you want to block or steam that front piece to make fitting the edge a bit easier?

*hugs* for you and your mom...

My dearest condolences to you and your family on Harvey's passing. My sister's beloved puffer fish of six years, Valentine, also passed away this week.

May Harvey and Valentine live happily ever after in pet heaven.

RIP, Harvey. It was always a pleasure to see him on your website.

In other, happier news: will this sweater pattern one day be for purchase? Because it is GORG!

I'm sorry about Harvey. There's definitely something to be said about knowing when the time for a graceful exit has come, but it doesn't make watching the departure any less painful. For your sakes' I'm sorry to see him go; for his sake, I'm glad it was when he decided he was ready. Having done both that way and the quick, traumatic way . . . nature's timing is definitely better! God Bless, Harvey!

My sympathy to you and your family on Harvey's passing - he was a very handsome puss and sounds to have been a cat on whom my two naughty black kittens could stand to model themselves!

A peaceful death with time to say goodbye to those who have loved you is a comfort at least. As I say, lots of sympathy to you all.

My cat and I send you our sympathy too.

My regards to you and your family for gentle Harvey. It sounds like he had a full, comfortable life with the people he loved. May his roses always bloom for you!

So sorry for the loss of your sweet Harvey. I hope that your family will have years of warm memories as you look at the beautiful roses on his rose bush. My condolences.
