Hi there,
I am currently knitting Sgt Pepper and cannot work out how to do the fronts. Pattern states casting on 12 stitches and decrease as for centre back until 9 remain. How can this be when it's 2 decreases at a time....or am I just not reading the pattern properly??

very cute! it looks very cozy, this might have to go on my "after deadline kniting list"!

That is gorgeous, and I suppose that's my January knitting sorted out! I do admire the way your designs manage to be relaxed and elegant at the same time.

Absolutely beautiful photo..I must make this coat...it is so very much like my first sweater ever, that I knit back in 1976 that I still have!...a Bernat chunky sweater coat with ribbing that I knit in grey.

Anna, it's absolutely divine. I've downloaded the pattern and can't wait to start (it's summer here and I'm knitting a coat)!
PS: You look beautiful. And chic. x

I so want to knit this but I can't think of an acrylic substitute yarn that wouldn't pil terribly and make all that effort a total waste of time... I will have to hunt out a cotton/fake synthetic materials mix that's bulky and then save up for all that yarn!
Brilliant job on the design though, it looks so incredibly comfortable!

I downloaded flicca last night and am ordering yarn today...thanks for the pattern

I'm not sure if you've seen it but some of the Craftsters have started a knitalong in your honour.
We're currently knitting Flicca and Jess but more I think will come.

On another note what do you think of a Flicca done in a more rustic/rugged yarn like Rowan Yorkshire Tweed?
Posted by: JoHunter at December 8, 2006 02:43 PM
Flicca is beautiful! Definitely goes onto my ever-lengthening list of projects!!

You look like you stepped out of a magazine. Absolutely beautiful. I took a look at The Wedding also. Very similar story for me and my hubbie! (I'm from Charleston, SC and he was in England) Love this sweater coat. Once I know how knit something other than squares, I'll try it!

I have been looking for a sweater coat pattern all year. this one has the shaping I love. Can you come up with a different edging for the whole sweater, including the sleeves? something a little wavy without being overly frilly? Just to make it a little more feminine looking to constrast with plain clothes, like jeans, etc.
(don't get me wrong, it is quite lovely as it is , but I just have something in mind that i can't find, and being not advanced in knitting, would never venture to alter a pattern on my own)
thanks!

I did a quick google search and there is no US equilvilant to 7mm :( I would love to make this sweater. Any suggestions?
Posted by: miss matilda at December 19, 2006 06:59 PM
ut-oh. just when i thought i was going to be good ... i feel the need to knit this pretty coat!
it's lovely and feminine, without ruffles and frills :)

can you tell me how much yarn you would need before i download pattern? and whether, like another person asked, if you think a rowan chunky tweed yarn would be suitable? Maybe in 2 colors somehow(though i have no idea how)
I have a problem. I am kinda new to knitting and i see all this yarn I would like to get but no patterns or patterns with no yarn that I can find to match. I am afraid to buy yarn this way because I have no idea how much I would need! Any suggestions? But this sweater looks really nice on the model and it seems versatile enough for subbing yarn(with the right gauge, right?)
You need to create new patterns becausse you must be really talented. thanks!
