PS

Regarding my previous post: My father gave me one piece of advice before the littlest Raitte was born: 'Keep a diary,' he told me. 'You'll forget. You think you'll remember but you won't.' Well, the chances of me keeping up a paper diary are slim to none but as luck would have it I already have and occasionally write in an electronic journal. So my periodic reminiscences (ever the follower) will be stored here, for as long as seems appropriate.

great idea! but print it out, too. best digital storage starts to deteriorate after about 5-7 years. unless you're spending the big bucks, er, pounds.
happy new year, family Raitte!

A short while ago, as I was preparing to leave hospital after the birth of my daughter, the doctor who helped deliver her said to me: "Take her home and enjoy her, because you'll turn around and she'll be three ..."
She's just turned twenty. And honestly, Anna, those two decades have gone in a flash. So a big thumbs up to keeping a record.

note to self...must add your new site to my bloglines. i just dropped by to see how the pregnancy was coming and found a precious baby boy, stanley, how perfect he is. he holds the same birth day (not the same month though) as my twin boys. they just turned their eighth month and i have been keeping my diary monthly at my blog. it does go much faster than ever to be believed, i am so very happy i am doing my posts to them. another mama i correspond with suggested at the one year mark i have the posts printed and bound, it sounds like a good tradition to start. congratulations and happiest of new years.

And for the times in between, a few sentences, even a word or two jotted daily in the squares of a calendar kept just for that purpose can have an amazing power to bring a day back, even a decade later. I never kept proper baby books for any of my three, who are now 12, 10 and 8, but the calendars (and the scraps of paper tucked into them - cards, heights and weights from doctor's visits, and such) are enough.

Congratulations! What a cute little boy. I just had one also...Dec. 30. They are so precious. Blessings on you and your little one.

What a lovely idea and congratulations!

I had a question, the knitted blanket...is there a pattern? It is gorgeous.
