Old Shale baby blanket

This simple recipe makes a substantial blanket to accompany the discerning baby through his or her early years.

Materials
8 x 50g Debbie Bliss Cotton Cashmere (shown in shade 02), or equivalent DK yarn
3.75mm needles

Finished size
Approx 28" x 40" (70 x 100cm)

Instructions
Cast on 150 sts. Work 3 rows in K.

Stitch pattern
Row 1: (RS) K
Row 2: K3, P to last 3 sts, K3
Row 3: K3, *(K2tog) 3 times, (yo, K1) 6 times, (k2tog) 3 times. Rpt from * to last 3 sts, K3.
Row 4: K.

Rpt these 4 rows 57 times, or until blanket is desired length.
Work 3 rows in K.
Cast off all sts.

That is a beautiful blanket. It has a heirloom feel and is very classy. I do not like the common pink/blue blankets and I think this is a great alternative.

Great job! Now only if I had the patience to knit a baby blanket...

I have the perfect yarn and I can't wait to cast on for this. It's all I can do not to cast on now - anything to divert me from some design work which is going no where(!)

Hope all is well with your newly enlarged family. Would be lovely to catch up and meet the little guy.

Gosh, look how big he is! Isn't it amazing how quickly they change? We have webcams for the grandparents and my MIL was stunned yesterday because she hadn't seen my son for a week. And she wasn't exaggerating!

And the blanket is just cute enough for a very cute boy!
