Holly pattern .pdf
I've had a number of enquiries about patterns which used to live at Magknits - I've today added a link to download a .pdf to this post, and will add .pdfs of Argyle and Sally in the near future.
While I'm on: those who have told me 'a friend will give me a copy of (pattern x)' please know that your friend, while charitable to you, is actually in breach of my copyright - perhaps now, the friend will direct you to my website where you can find this and many other patterns available for download. My free patterns are offered to be knit, but not distributed without my prior permission. I know this sounds persnickety, and there's no way for it not to, but if knitwear designers do not have our copyright, then truly we do not have much at all.
There have been some changes at Raitte Hall and I'm itching to update and spring clean the site. It's looked like this for years now, and it's high time we moved some furniture around. Also, stay tuned next week for an exciting new pattern release - a favourite from the archives. You won't want to miss it.

Thank you, and not too persnickety at all. Do the changes include your book publication? I do hope so.

Thank you for making your patterns available. Someone actually left me a comment on a finished-item blog post and asked me to email them the former-Magknits pattern I'd used! I told them no - firmly, but politely!

Turning friends onto designer's free patterns is a great way to increase interest in a designer's patterns for sale, blog, books, etc. I'm sorry to hear that you don't feel that way.

I don't think that is how Anna feels at all. It is important to those of us who put so much of ourselves, as well as our time and effort, into designing, to maintain some sort of control over the distribution of our patterns. Before, the pattern came from Magknits, which was a great vehicle for advertising (online magazines pay very little to designers, who are primarily compensated through exposure), now it will come from Anna's site, which will be linked via ravelry, etc. and also be a nice vehicle for exposure. I don't think that it is a terribly huge inconvenience to tell friends to get a pdf from this website (especially if you expect them to be interested in other patterns by the designer). Plus the patterns are still free (also a choice and a generous one). If the pattern were still on Magknits you would also be legally prevented from distributing it personally. Now you just direct your friends to a different website to get the same patterns, and as a bonus they are available in printer-friendly pdfs. You're doing the right thing by respecting copyright, and no more effort is involved on your part. Where is the hassle in that?

Thanks for uploading it. I was a bit traumatised when Magknits disappeared :)

I pop in quite regularly hoping to find news of 'the book' but this is welcome indeed. I had downloaded your Magknit patterns but it was disappointing to find the site gone. I wholeheartedly endorse Julia's comments and add that I am sure when a designer distributes free patterns they would also want to know just how much interest there was in their work. They will not know this if patterns are passed on from friend to friend.

Oddly enough I was thinking about this pattern a few days ago and was really sad to see it had dissapeared. Thank you so so much for posting it. I'm really looking forward to making Anna for a my fall wardobe. :)

I don't think you're being persnickity, after all the patterns are your work and how much harder is it to direct someone to a site? Looking forward to the uploads.

New furniture AND a new pattern? Ooooh, we're in for a treat! *rubbing hands together with glee*

I think that it has to be said. People work hard at their patterns or designs and deserve to make an income off of that.
