He is adorable - love those rosy cheeks!

Posted by: carol at June 19, 2008 01:55 PM

what an incredibly beautiful babe. i'd so like to say something to help you feel better, having myself suffered from terrible pnd. the demands on your time change, they become more involved but less non-stop, if that makes sense. you do eventually find time for yourself and recover some of what was, albeit to a different degree. I don't think i knitted a stitch until my little one was about 7 months. as this photo shows, things change so quickly. also, you have changed - being Stanley's mum is a third state for you to be in now. and i think it is the most creative (and creatively demanding) state possible.

Oh my, what a beauty.

Stanley is the pinnacle of your creativity - he is absolutely beautiful and a testimony to your motherhood skills. I love reading your blog - your honesty and integrity shine through and your skill in design and knitting is something to be admired. I also see that your are down as a favourite link on many other well known knitting sites [Brooklyntweed for one] - so isn't that the best of all? to be admired by your peers? Well done and take care.Maureen

Oh, what a beautiful baby! I hope you're feeling more hopeful, now. Just read your 3 most recent entries, and wanted to say that you've a lot on your plate, with the sweet new one. The book contract isn't the only one you'll ever have, I'm sure, especially if it's important to you. Keep on knitting in faith, as others have surely encouraged you. Glad to see you're posting; I know it's hard to find time to do so!

Such beautiful lashes!

Posted by: Rosann at June 19, 2008 08:53 PM

He is beautiful, Anna - your greatest accomplishment. I wrote you regarding your beautiful stole. I read your blog regularly and I am amazed at all that you accomplish - work, motherhood, knitting, writing, designing, a blog! If we are comparing ourselves, then I feel quite inadequate!!! ;) You are very accomplished in many areas. Being a good mother is extremely time consuming. You write so lovingly of Stanley. Life is always changing, but what makes you tick is always there, inside. Sometimes other things take precedence. You will get your knitting/creating groove back. Keep enjoying your little one and do what you can. Try not to be too hard on yourself. You are wonderful.

I'm not sure if I have commented on your blog previously, but I always visit and enjoy the read every time.

Your child is gorgeous ... believe me, you do not need to worry about yesterday's post, surely this one photo eliminates all doubt as to what you want to do right now.

There is always time to realise your dream, even if you do not think so at the moment. If you have true passion for your craft, time is immaterial.

You are obviously a talented, stylish designer ... one never loses that characteristic.

Enjoy, cherish and give the time to what you are experiencing at the moment, for when you do return to designing, you will be amazed at what you will achieve.

Keep dreaming, stay positive and enjoy your family.

A kiss and greetings from Toronto for you and Stanley. Almost 7 months is very "grown up" in a way. June 19th was my daughter's 2nd birthday! My time flies.

Posted by: Max at June 20, 2008 03:05 PM

He is simply gorgeous, you deserve to be very proud.

Reading your recent posts reminds me how much I have always been moved by your writing. Your honesty of expression tugs at my heart and I wish you so much of the very best. Motherhood is an incredible challenge and so different for each and everyone of us. Try not to compare yourself to others, just take joy in the present, the other things will come when the time is right.

Hi there.
I've been following your blog for about a year now, but have never left a comment for you yet... Somehow I feel compelled to do so today. Your little boy is positively angelic! Surely the best thing you've ever made? I am not a mother myself but am sure that most tend to doubt themselves at one time or another. Surely if the result of whatever you are doing is a happy, healthy child, then that is all the reassurance you need... As for feeling that one's creativity is slipping through one's fingers, I know exactly how you feel. I am a classical singer and have battled for a few years now with a loss of motivation, dedication, faith in my skills... You name it. Yet I have found that taking small baby steps is the best way to get back 'on the wagon' so to speak. That in mind, you seem to be doing just that by swatching and making more regular posts to your blog. I'm quite sure you have a much wider readership than you realize, as many have probably stayed silent just as I have till now. So please carry on posting, as I love you designs and enjoy the fluidity of your writing.

Stanley certainly is a luv!
Balancing motherhood and other pursuits is certainly challenging and can be quite a roller coaster ride. Still remember that babyhood and childhood go by so fast (my oldest is 18!) and so it is fine to put the other stuff on hold and just take the time to be with Stan. I spend my days around lots of other Moms (I work at a school) and I can tell you that the main thing that is important is to enjoy your boy and enjoy your life and somehow the accomplishments and creativity will all get there. Your sense of style and what looks good is so wonderful, that I expect to be making your designs for a long time to come.

I have produced 5 and not a redhead amongst them, though my sister managed it with her first.
Cherish him.

Stanley's a real 'cookie-bun' as my mum would say. And it isn't easy trying to be everything to everybody and do it all well. Cut yourself some slack for a while. You work hard! It'll all fall into place, you'll see. You'll get there.
